Outside the tropics, autumn marks the transition from summer to winter. It's the season when daylight disappears a little quicker and temps are considerably cooler. As Robert Frost poetically put it:
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
That holds true for the yellow leaves of autumn, and the halcyon days of summer. An air of melancholy as we see goodbyes perhaps, but we're making the most of this brilliant season while we can - welcoming the sweater weather, and taking in spectacular displays of foliage, enjoying harvest celebrations and getting cozy with all things pumpkin flavored.
The equinox marks the start of a glorious season, filled with shackets, apple picking, pumpkin carving and more. We've rounded up a few of our favorite things to bring into your home this year for a festive fall!

1. Music - Old School
First, set the tone with timeless tunes. We love Twist and Shout, an old-school shop for buying & selling new & used vinyl (and more), with occasional live music. They're local to Denver, but ship nation-wide and are one of the best places in the country to find rare, out of print and import items.
2. Fresh Flowers & Dried Fruit
Just because it's Fall it doesn't mean it's all browns and burnt orange. Pops of bright yellow and hot pink are perfectly acceptable and highly encouraged! Incorporate fresh and colorful floral (we'll say it again - we love Farm Girl Flowers) into your tablescapes and DIY the orange slice garlands for an unexpected touch that you can transition into winter holidays by weaving in pine cones or greenery with tree cuttings.
3. Oversize Pendleton Blanket
This one was our grandmothers (yes Ms. Phyllis Jane), but Jackson Hole Pendleton carries tons of similar Tartan styles. Whip-stitched edging. Pure virgin wool. Made in the USA by Pendleton Woolen Mills. Made with naturally renewable wool, Pendleton blankets pass strict standards of sustainability, leaving the smallest possible impact on our earth. In neutral plaids, they’re easy to match in any room.
4. Pompas Grass
Nothing says harvest like cut hay - but keep it luxe. This set of four pampas grass bouquets is one of our favorites.
5. Taper Candles
Time to restock for the holidays and Amazon is one of our go-to for this staple in a hurry. Did you know you can still support small on Amazon? This set of 12 (10 Inch, Autumn Foliage) from D'light are hand-dipped, dripless and smokeless.
6. Felt Hat
To top off our Fall Faves, the perfect hat for the season. Whether you're out and about gathering goods to decorate, or you're looking for the perfect outfit as host or guest to of the next harvest happening, search no further. Obsessed with the Banks style from Camp the Label. Best known for their kid hats, we love that you can find something to match the littles. Woman owned, which we love, AND 10% of sales are donated to families battling cancer. It's a reminder as we enter this season of Thanksgiving to be thankful for what we have and grateful for the opportunity to give to others.
